Books and magazines... the pile up on your desk, they consume a lot of space and they become yellow if the paper is not acid free. They soak up water when they get wet and they smell bad when they dry up. Is this enough to stop buying actual books and magazines? There are many reasons a lot of people prefer to read electronic books and shun conventional ones. Some may have valid, sustainable ideas and some may simply prefer to carry with them all titles that they can have. Nonetheless, shopping for information and literary entertainment has never been this interesting.

The ebook
The realm of the ebook is the computer, tablet and small mobile devices. They eat up a couple of megabytes and nothing else. They are easy to carry since they are inside your computer so there is no additional bulk. You read it, swipe the screen to mimic flipping of pages and you finish the book. It is alienating for some people but for others, it is a new way to “consume” literature. We spend a few bucks for a book and we keep it forever on a memory card. Ebooks are very popular since this format allows independent writers and other people to publish their work and sell them on the web, waiting for someone interested to read.

Touch screen e-readers are very popular nowadays due to the fame of e-publishing. Kindle, Nook, and a whole slew of tablet devices have become the important tools for a more enjoyable and beneficial reading experience. With new innovations added to ebook readers, a lot of people can now enjoy reading in a more pleasant and fun manner. Now, you do not have to carry a heavy bag to be able to carry your books. They are all inside this useful device and you can simply shift from one book to another.

The Tactile Experience
However, though ebooks are very popular, there is still a population of readers who still feel comfortable flipping real pages and holding a book. The experience of reading on a book or flipping on a magazine and smelling perfume samples has a unique appeal. They may cost more than a download but for someone who likes to enjoy a nice read, it is fun to just enjoy the experience of being able to fold a page, use a bookmark and focus on one book. Ebook reading is fun but if you have all titles readily available at the tip of your fingers, it might be a lot easier to recoil back to a different title than continue with one.

Collecting versus Saving
Collecting books is a lot of fun since you can see different textures, colors and sizes of books. It is fun to have a convenient way to read and a cheap selection of books to find online but it is still enjoyable to go to a bookstore and actually hold a book, spend some time with it then look back at it some other time, with fresh eyes.
